INTEGRATING INTANGIBLE CULTURAL HERITAGE INTO TEACHING AND LEARNING FOR PROMOTING EDUCATION FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

 

The indigenous knowledge and traditions which developed over centuries through interaction of human beings with their environment and guided over forefathers against hunger, disease, natural disasters, conflict and management of natural resources.

National History & Literary Heritage Division in close collaboration with UNESCO Islamabad office and Provincial Departments of Education & Culture developed National Guidelines which provide a framework for incorporating ICH into teaching and learning at school level. The Guidelines have been developed through a participatory process, engaging teachers, educators and students in selected schools and were finalized after thorough discussions and consultations with a broad range of stake-holders including teachers, educators, traditions bearers, provincial departments of education and culture.
