Commencement of the renovation project of Allama Muhammad Iqbal's residence, McLeod Road, Lahore

Director General Department of Archeology and Museum and Project Director for Restoration and Repair of Ancient Residence of Allama Iqbal, Dr. Abdul Azim, Engineer Muhammad Azim, Maqsood Ahmed Malik Director of Archeology Department Punjab Lahore, Engineer Naeem Iqbal Project Director Maqbara Jhangir Lahore and related staff along with Professor Dr. Baseera Ambrin, Director Iqbal Academy Pakistan visited Allama Muhammad Iqbal's ancient residence 116 McLeod Road Lahore on 1st December 2022.  Allama Muhammad Iqbal lived in this residence from 1922 to 1935. Initial funds have been released by the federal government for the maintenance, repair and renovation of the building and this meeting was held in this regard. Director General Archeology and Museum (Dom) and Director Iqbal Academy Pakistan discussed the launch of the project and other related issues. The details of the project were discussed during the meeting. Engineer Mohammad Azim said that initial steps have been taken for the restoration of the building and in this regard the department is forming a steering committee in the light of whose suggestions the plan of restoration will executed soon. Director, Iqbal Academy also issued orders to completely vacate the building for this purpose. The participants of the meeting also visited the building and important historical documents were discussed. The completion of this project is expected in two years.
