The 21st meeting of Ministers of Culture of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Member States was held  in online format on 15th May, 2024. The Republic of Kazakhstan hosted the meeting.

 

Mr. Hassan Nasir Jamy, Secretary, National Heritage & Culture Division represented Pakistan in the meeting. While addressing the forum, he highlighted vibrant and unique cultural heritage of Pakistan that has evolved over thousands of years; a culture that celebrates festivals, cherishes hospitality, appreciates art and music, delights in its culinary heritage, and preserves its unique identity.

 

He emphasized that the SCO member states can enhance collaborative efforts to preserve and promote shared cultural heritage sites and traditions. This could include joint efforts in heritage conservation, restoration projects, and UNESCO World Heritage site nominations.

 

He proposed that the SCO member states may consider to develop collaboration for utilizing digital platforms for cultural cooperation, such as virtual museums, online cultural exhibitions, and digital archives, in order to overcome geographical barriers and reach wider audiences.
