Second National Iqbal Conference held at Bahria University Lahore Campus

Second National Iqbal Conference was held on 28 December 2022 at Bahria University Lahore Campus. In organizing this conference, the support of Iqbal Academy Pakistan was also included among other institutions.

 

Director Iqbal Academy Pakistan, Dr. Baseera Ambareen addressed as the keynote speaker in the first session of Bahria University Conference Lahore center which was based on the teaching and formation of curriculum of Iqbal in school education. While expressing his views on Iqbal's concepts, she said that these concepts of Iqbal went on to form his concept of Shaheen and the concept of Mard Momin and have been presented as a basis for self-training. She said that Allama Iqbal is the thinker of our history who has the status of a national leader. Pakistan came into being in the light of Allama Iqbal's thought.

 

She said that in order to make the young generation the Shaheen of Iqbal and to acquaint them with the thoughts of Allama Iqbal, it is necessary to make both the personality and thoughts of Allama Iqbal a part of the curriculum. Allama Iqbal's teachings, study of his poetry and personality should not be limited to Urdu but should be included in the curriculum of all subjects, especially modern scientific studies. Because it is directly related to character formation of youth. She said that both teachers and parents have to play their responsible role in this regard.

 

She said that in all the conferences that have been organized till date, only the problems are mentioned, we should organize such a conference in which the problems as well as their solutions are presented and for this Iqbal Academy Pakistan offers its services. Bahria University in collaboration with Iqbal Academy Pakistan should organize a conference with an agenda to solve the future problems so that the proposals formulated in the light of collective wisdom can be sent to the government.

 

 

The last part of the second session of the conference was based on a panel discussion on Iqbal's concept of Shaheen, the participants of which were Dr. Muhammad Rafiq Khan, Dr. Najeeb Jamal, Dr. Baseera Ambareen and Dr. Tahir Hameed Tanoli. Dr. Tahir Hameed Tanoli from Iqbal Academy Pakistan said that in order to practically introduce Iqbal's thought in educational institutions and bring up the new generation according to the teachings of Allama Iqbal, it is necessary that we give primary importance to morality in the national education and training system and curriculum. Without a strong moral foundation, Allama Iqbal's philosophy cannot be considered self-evident, nor can it be practiced. Our present scenario is characterized by problems arising from moral crisis. The solution of which is that we build morals in the educational institutions of the new generation in the light of Allama Iqbal's thoughts.

 

The participants of the panel answered the questions of the audience after expressing their views on the topic under discussion. Hameedullah Khattak Chief Executive Officer Afaq, and Commodore Jawad Ahmad Qureshi Sitara Imtiaz Military, Director Bahria University Lahore Campus also addressed the conference. An exhibition of Iqbal Academy books was also organized on this occasion.
